Street And Street Set To Be Named After Anthony Joshua In Nigeria
After defeating Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko, Anthony Joshua should be honored by the state government of Ogun, the state where his parents come to Nigeria.
The majority leader of the State House of Assembly, Yinka Mafe, says he will move a motion in the state legislature so that the international stadium of Sagam is to be renamed Anthony Joshua Stadium and the famous street Cinema in Sagamu to be renamed the same.
Of the two, the street is the largest, as his family owns nearly half of the land and property on one side of the street.
The cinema, from where the road takes its name, was built by its great-grandfather Omo-Oba Daniel Adebambo Joshua in the 50s and is one of the oldest of these facilities in the country.
Mafe joined hundreds of young people from Sagamu to watch the fight in an open viewing event hosted by the Sagamu Youth Congress and was delighted with the participation and outcome.
“We are proud of what he has achieved as a son of Sagamu, and we will be happy to make our own example to show our appreciation and support,” Mafe said.
